How do you use the filters?

6 min read

As your boards fill up with an abundance of information, our board filters can help you easily focus on the specific information you need (because after all, who likes to scroll!). Draw conclusions, focus on what's important and save time navigating through your boards with the board filters. šŸ™Œ

Options for board filters

When it comes to filtering information from your board, you can choose to use the search bar, the quick suggested filter or the advanced filter option to create a custom rule. Keep reading to learn more about each of these options! ā¬‡ļø

Search bar

The first and perhaps the most intuitive option for board filters is the search bar, located at the top left of your board.

When using the search bar, you can customise the columns and values on which your search will be performed within your board! Simply click on the search bar and select the "Search Options" button to the right of the search bar, then tick or untick the columns for which you want the search to be performed.

Tip: Try ticking or un-ticking "All columns" within the filter to make your search more efficient! Please note that the maximum number of columns that can be ticked is 50.

If you try to search for something and get no results, you can easily return to the search bar settings by clicking on "Search Options" and then adjust the selected columns, as shown below.

Remark: The board search cannot display data from a Mirror column that displays information from other Mirror columns.

Quick proposed filter

To create a quick filter, simply click on the "Filter" icon on the left side of the board. From there, you can see a list of suggested quick filters that you can click on and use to filter without setting your own conditions.

For example, if I want to see all candidates who are a match and who are in the waiting list, I can click on those two values and only the relevant items that meet this criterion will be displayed!

Remark: Quick filters are available on the Standard Plan and above.

Filters you have applied before can be found in the "Recent Filters" section here for easy access in the future. šŸ™Œ

Tip: The numbers next to each filter option show the number of items that meet the selected criteria on your board!

Advanced filter

Want to create custom rules to filter your board by? The advanced filter option allows you to do just that! While clicking on the "Filter" icon itself opens the quick filters, clicking on the arrow to the right of the "Filter" icon immediately opens the advanced filters.

Remark: The advanced filters are available on the Standard Plan and above.

Alternatively, you can also access the advanced filter by clicking on the words "Switch to advanced filters" at the bottom of the quick filters window.

Tip: You can also find the filter from the column settings!

Then select the column you want to filter on, the condition and the value. The dropdown displays results based on the specific conditions and values selected.

By clicking the "New Group" button below the filter parameters, you can add new conditions to your filter with "And" or "Or" expansions. Once you have added the new group, you can customise the filter by selecting the filter's column, condition and value.

Remark: To set up additional filtering within a group, simply click "+ New Filter" within the grey box that frames the group you have created.

If you want to filter your board to see items between two dates, the filter option varies depending on whether a specific time is attached to the dates or not. If no specified times are included in the dates, items within the time span of the end date are included.

Remark: If your board has a date and you want to filter by date, keep in mind that "next week" means the next week from Monday to Sunday and not the past 7 days. The same goes for "last week", "next month"... You can change your first day of the week settings here.

Filtering on multiple conditions

To filter your board by multiple different conditions in the advanced filter, simply click the "Add new filter" button at the bottom left of the filter screen. Then follow the steps again to choose the column you want to filter on, the condition and the value you want to display or not, and voila!

Remark: When adding multiple conditions, you can choose between "AND" or "OR" to refine your results to exactly what you need!
